Georgia Pacific's gypsum mill in Cumberland, TN is seeking a talented leader for a Calcine Mill Manager position.

Responsibilities:
This position will have Mill operations responsibilities in the Cumberland City facility. Roles and responsibilities will include safety performance, compliance, production, quality, cost control and typical performance measures associated with the manufacturing aspect of the business. The position reports to the Plant Manager and will work closely with the organization's Safety, Environmental, Maintenance, Accounting, and Site Leadership Team members to achieve and maintain 10,000% compliance while simultaneously striving for operations excellence.
KEY JOB EXPECTATIONS:
Direct leadership of the Mill department
Continue to drive the safety and environmental performance of the Mill department to achieve environmental, health & safety (EH&S) excellence by empowering employees to understand and accept their roles to meet expectations.
Make working safely the top priority. Continue to improve safety performance through utilization of job hazard analysis, safe work permitting, and behavior based safety, root cause analysis, housekeeping and training.
Lead the Mill operations effort to achieve and maintain compliance with respect to GP's Compliance program.
Maintain and improve plant process safety information, support and participate in process hazard analysis.
Drives change through challenging the status quo and focusing on continual improvement.
Seeks the input of others to improve decisions and results.
Effectively uses Root Cause Analysis to identify system failures and gaps.
Oversee the development and improvement standard operating procedures.
Leverages the strengths of the Mill team, and identifies and addresses any group of individual talent gaps.
Understands the Mill process and key drivers of operational excellence metrics for the business
Identifies gaps in the Milling and Calcining process and develops and communicates plan to manage the gaps.
Ensure a robust Management of Change (MOC) process.
Ensure safe and efficient Mill start-ups utilizing pre-startup safety and materiel condition review procedures.
Oversee and ensure strong process training platforms for hourly shift personnel in the pursuit of making them more technically capable in their roles.
Conduct & follow-up on incident investigations in our pursuit of an incident-free work environment
Lead and develop employees to improve their capabilities and personal performance using Company's Market-Based Management Principles.
Lead or participate in all applicable Operations Excellence efforts associated with the areas of production efficiencies, operating costs and quality.
BASIC
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical field -- OR -- a minimum of eight (8) years of building products manufacturing or minerals processing experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in an industrial environment
A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience working in and/or supporting an industrial operation
Employee performance management experience, including expectation setting, and coaching, counseling and developing employees
Experience empowering a work team
Experience with root cause analysis, gap identification and analysis, and project planning and execution
Must be able and willing to work safely, and promote and enforce safe work practices
This is a day shift position, however must be able and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required
Able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, dusty, non-air conditioned or unheated areas
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
Calcination or thermal treatment of minerals experience
Gypsum wallboard manufacturing experience
Six Sigma Green Belt or similar training
Knowledgeable of Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and policies
KNOWLEDGE - SKILLS - ABILITIES
Knowledgeable of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and policies
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and computer-based maintenance and/or production applications
Strong communication, planning and organization skills
Strong leadership, teambuilding, and motivational skills
Ability to work within a diverse team, follow up effectively and ensure accountability
Strong problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
Basic accounting/financial knowledge and experience
Strategic and critical thinking
